John Armstrong is the National Industry Lead for Financial Services at KPMG Canada. In this role he is accountable for industry leadership in Canada of all services – audit, tax and advisory – across all industry segments.
John’s areas of focus include corporate and business strategy, operations and technology enablement. John has worked across all sectors of the financial services industry. John also consults with clients around innovation and has written and spoken on this topic.
John has deep experience in country and regional competitiveness and currently serves on the Ontario Panel on Economic Growth and Prosperity. The panel focuses on issues of competitiveness in Ontario including innovation and the implications of a changing industrial landscape.
John is very involved in charitable work and served as Chair of the Board of the United Way of Oakville where he was instrumental in the 2017 amalgamation of four United Ways to form the United Way of Halton and Hamilton.
He earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard University with High Distinction, graduating as a Baker Scholar and earned his Bachelor of Commerce, with Distinction from the University of Toronto. John also holds the ICD.D designation.
John is the also the Canadian contributor in KPMG’s renowned global Pulse of Fintech report, and sits on the Global Banking & Capital Markets leadership team.
