Nicholas Cheng is the Head of Technology at Bank of New York Mellon (BNYM), Hong Kong and is responsible for technology strategy, operations and governance. He also facilitates infrastructure project rollouts within BNY Asia.
Prior to joining BNYM, Nicholas held leading technology roles within the financial services industry such as UBS, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and ING. He started his career in software engineering and was an integral part of the core team that led the expansion of Priceline.com’s expansion into Asia. After the dot come era, he moved on to advisory consulting with Hewlett Packard and IBM, focusing on IT strategy and system implementation for key financial institutions in Asia.
Outside of work, Nicholas is a keen runner and rower. He has completed several marathons and has rowed with several teams for the annual dragon boating festival in Hong Kong. At work, he champions the disability affinity network for Asia and also works with external charitable organizations, providing mentorship to local students with learning and social disabilities.
Nicholas holds bachelor degree in Computer science from the University of Toronto, Canada and has completed Digital Strategy Leadership program with Columbia Business School. He holds certifications in PMP, Prince 2, Six Sigma, CISA and ITIL.
